Agents of Architecture, The Journal - Vol. 5

Fall is upon us and some amazing properties are available on the market, from the Salerno Residence in Olde Del Mar to a very eclectic design coming soon on Sunset Cliffs.

Our agents have recently been successful both in obtaining top dollar offers for their sellers, but also assisting buyers in securing off-market opportunities. If we can help you with either, please reach out anytime.

We’ve just launched our ‘Search By Design’ feature on our website, San Diego’s first true architecture search portal. Continuing our mission to support buyers and sellers of great local design.

We will soon be releasing our first “look book”, a printed coffee table magazine featuring some of our favorite local homes, architects and neighborhoods. If you want to be sure to get a copy, please send us an email.

Hope you enjoy this month’s volume - Agents of Architecture

Mid-Century Modern by Dan Salerno - Olde Del Mar

The Salerno Residence #1 was the first home Salerno designed for himself and was published in LA Times Home Magazine just after it was built.

Dan Salerno was born in Los Angeles in 1930 and secured his degree in architecture from USC in 1957 following service in the US Navy (1951).

After working as a project architect for Edward H. Fickett, AIA, Dan worked as job captain for Daniel, Mann, Johnson & Mendenhall, and draftsman for the Cunneen Company. He would later work as ‘City Architect’ for the City of San Diego. (Source, Modern San Diego)

1912 Historic Prairie Design by William Sterling Hebbard - Bankers Hill

Hebbard came to San Diego near the end of the 1880 boom decade to design the power plant for the San Diego Cable Company, becoming the designated architect for a company run by John Fisher, D.D. Dare and J.W. Collins.

He arrived here with many new ideas instilled within him from his college experience at Cornell University and his apprenticeships with noted architects in Chicago and Los Angeles. He stayed in San Diego through periods of prosperity and depression and left a legacy not only to this city, but California as well.
