Agents of Architecture Presents, The Art of Sitting - A 20th Century Chair Exhibition
Thanks to Photographer, Andy McRory for the photos.
It’s official, we are committed to bringing a greater appreciation for art, culture, and design to San Diego in ways that echo that of Palm Springs, LA and NY, but in our very own cool, beachy…74 degrees year-round sort of way.
While our first passion is and always will be selling the remarkable architecture that we represent and aid our clientele in seeking out, our appreciation runs deep for all of the lovely ways in which to artfully furnish properties.
The Art of Sitting, held on May 14-15th, was a first of many events in which we plan to celebrate all the ways to uniquely style our lifestyles around architecture and design. In fact, many people don’t realize that many notable architects were also furniture designers; creatives such as Ray and Charles Eames, Rudolph Schindler and Richard Neutra all created both notable chair and architectural designs.
The event kicked off on Saturday evening, where around 30 unique 20th century chairs were on display; provided in thanks by several local dealers and collectors. The chair show featured rare pieces by Eames for Herman Miller, Niels Vodder for Finn Juhl, Harry Bertoia for Knoll, George Nakashima, Arne Jacobsen, and many more.
Wine and appetizers welcomed guests to stay and socialize while one of our agents, Keith York, shared his expertise on Julius Schulman in a presentation that highlighted Schulman’s architectural San Diego photography currently being showcased in our space.
If you would like to be added to the invite list for our future events, please send us an email.
